What does Leadership mean to me?
I believe that “a great leader listens with empathy, grows with purpose, leads with strength, motivates with passion, considers with compassion, and communicates with clarity.” (Halkerston, 2024)
Empathy and active listening are essential qualities in leadership: “The most powerful leadership tool you have is your own personal example.” (Wooden, 2024). This highlights how leaders inspire others through genuine actions and compassion.
Equally, a commitment to growth and purpose is crucial. The following quote resonates with this idea: “Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others.” (Jack Welch, as cited in Aguilera, 2023). True leadership is about fostering growth in those around you.
Finally, clarity in communication is vital. “The art of communication is the language of leadership,” (James Humes, as cited in Tambun, 2024), reminding us that effective leadership hinges on clear, intentional communication.
Together, these qualities: are empathy, growth, strength, passion, compassion, and clarity, which are the foundation of meaningful and impactful leadership.
